Overview of Our Hosting Facility

The facility features around 30,000 square feet of total space, redundant UPS systems, generator backup, VESPA detection systems, closed circuit monitoring of all areas and entrances, card key access, 24 hour guard manned security, redundant a/c systems, and fiber from 5 separate providers. They are in discussions with three additional providers for the ultimate in redundancy.

Secure Entry

This area is secure. The front door must be opened by the security guard who is on duty 24/7/365. Movement throughout the facility must be escorted at ALL times. There is no other entry door into the facility with the exception of the loading door which is protected by a roll down door and may only be operated with a security officer present.

NOC

There will be one to three NOC personnel on location at all times monitoring network operations throughout the system. The NOC looks out into the Carrier Access room where the core network is also located.

The VESDA system, which stands for something like "Very Early Smoke Detection something" is also monitored by the NOC personnel and will detect trace particles in the air that alert them to the presence of a problem before it becomes too serious. There are also monitors for the UPS and generators.

Carrier Room

This area is served by redundant Data Aire 26 Ton units as well as redundant power distribution systems. There are also redundant DC rectifiers. All fiber takes redundant paths throughout the facility as well as having dual entry.

Municipal Electrical

Total incoming power is 480V (I think that's it) 4000 Amps. This is A LOT of power and could also power an expansion of over double the current space size. (The facility is currently about 30,000 square feet).

ATS (Automatic Transfer switch)

In the event that they expand the facility, there are pre-plummed connections for a second ATS for a second generator.

UPS Power

The current UPS that supplies power to the facility runs at just 6% of capacity. Next to it, is a second identical UPS which provides redundant UPS power to the facility. They also have 2 additional UPS systems used with the second ATS and generator to provide capacity for an expansion for the current 30,000 sq. foot size.

Eye in the Sky

There is a camera on a track inside the smoked housing. It is controlled by security and can run from end to end and looks to both sides. It is one of over 2 dozen cameras located throughout the facility that are continually monitored by security. It is the guard’s responsibility to know at all times who is in the building and where they are. Between the cameras, access control, and the security team, this place is pretty secure.
